Although the kingdom of Hyrule was at peace, Link found the everyday life of the castle hard to adjust to.
“As I stand around doing nothing, I grow old and my blade gathers rust!” he explained to the king one day.
“You are like a son to me” the king said sternly.
“But remember all the great warriors of past ages that fought for peace and never obtained it!”
Link shrugged.
“You know as well as I do that Ganon, the king of evil, can never truly be defeated. He can only be locked away for a limited time. In a year, maybe in a thousand years he will rise again! Even now I shudder to thing about the dark deeds he is plotting.”

It was at this very moment a mysterious wizard appeared on a flying carpet.
“Your majesty” he began.
“The faraway island of Koredai has been seized by no other then Ganon, king of evil! We fought long and hard but lacks the manpower and leadership that you posses in abundance. Thus we came to seek your aid.”
The king fell into deep despair. What a fool he had been not to realise this!
Though this man and his people expected great things of him, he was powerless before Ganon, and he knew it all too well.

“How…how can my kingdom be of service?” he finally managed to say.
The wizard brought forth an ancient scroll adorned with powerful runes and showed it to the king.
“I have searched for a long time in the old scriptures of my homeland, and there is a prophecy about a man clad in green, friend of fairies in this very kingdom!” the wizard explained.
“After searching for a long time, I believe I have found him. He is the one you know as Link!”
“I see” Link said, filled with a grim determination and lust for adventure.
“I will gather my belongings and we will travel to this Koredai of which you speak”
The wizard smiled.
“I know that you are fond of tools of many kinds, but understand that the island is on the verge of doom. We have not a moment to spare!”

But Link had to talk to his lover, the princess Zelda, and ask her for one last kiss.
She wanted to, she really did, but because she worried for Links safety, she could not do it. Full of grief they departed from each other.

With an ancient word of power, the carpet took to the skies!

While they where flying over the island of Koredai, Link noticed something weird.
"What is those vile looking statues?" he asked the wizard, whose name was Gwonam.
"This is what the islanders commonly refer to as the faces of evil, although their real name is not for the language of men." said the wise Gwonam.
"They are the physical manifestation of Ganons evil power and to enter his lair you must defeat the henchman placed in each and recover the treasures they have stolen."
"Then I have no choice but to make haste!" Link nodded.

"I present to with a gift." Gwonam said after a while.
"It is a map of Koredai. Just say where you want to go and my carpet will take us there in a flash!"

Linked concidered the map carefully, knowing that his adventure was just starting.
