In the beginning...

In the vastness of the universe, on a certain planet usually known to its inhabitants as Earth, there once existed a country called Livonia.
It is located at the place where Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania can be found nowadays.

More then a thousand years it was founded by Finnic immigrants. They settled in the land of Metsepole with their leader Caupo of Turaida, Turaida being their capital.

Not many people are familiar with spiritual findings and such matters concerning that place but one old legend is of exceptional interest to us at it explains, to an extent, the origins of the hounds of God.

In those days there were many rumours of various shamanic rituals, strange gatherings where people fell into trance and recited mysterious myths, sayings and poems until sunrise.
It scared away strangers until at last the church was sent to the area.

It all began during the Livonian Crusade when ancient Livonia was colonized by the Brothers of the Sword or the Livonian Order, as they where also known.
It was a time of growth and prosperity for the land, even if most of the country’s old culture was discarded.
In these years the name Livonia came to mean a much bigger area called the Livonian Confederation, which was located on the eastern coasts of the Baltic Sea.

The land of Livonia was now controlled by the German people, and made into land of the civilized world.

All the old pagan temples of worship were destroyed.
At least, that is what everybody thought…

But our story begins much later then that, when the at the time great empire of Sweden seized control of Livonia.
Both political and religious uncertainty took root amongst the people.
In 1612, it finally began.

The beginning of a new age was at hand!
